The district administration in Dehradun conducted a Jan Darshan (public hearing) under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Savin Bansal at the Rishiparna Auditorium in the Collectorate premises, where grievances of 239 citizens were heard and addressed.
A wide range of issues including land disputes, school fee waivers, financial assistance, electricity and water bills, ration cards, and compensation were raised during the session. The District Magistrate directed officials to ensure timely and effective resolution of all complaints.
In a humanitarian gesture, several cases received immediate relief. The administration cleared a house tax of ₹47,230 for widow Kanishka Garg. Financial assistance of ₹50,000 was also approved for the marriage of Ganga Ram’s daughter.
Relief was extended to 66-year-old widow Neelam, who had been struggling financially. Out of her total water bill of ₹18,335, an amount of ₹12,776 will be paid by the district administration after settlement.
Special focus was given to supporting girls’ education under Project Nanda-Sunanda. Several cases of school fee waivers and educational assistance were taken up, including for the daughter of cancer patient Dheeraj Rawat and other economically weaker families.
The administration also directed officials to facilitate employment for widow Kiran Dhiman and ensure continuation of her children’s education by coordinating with school management.
In legal matters, strict action was ordered in the case of Zarina Bano, who was allegedly evicted by her son, with directions to proceed under the Maintenance Act. Authorities were also instructed to investigate land disputes, ration card issues, and fraud complaints.
Additionally, officials were directed to take immediate steps regarding compensation claims raised by people affected by the Lakhwar Dam project.
The initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to responsive governance, ensuring that public grievances are not only heard but resolved promptly.
