Political temperatures in Uttarakhand have risen after BJP state spokesperson Honey Pathak launched a sharp attack on the Congress over the alleged remarks surrounding Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s late father’s Ancestor Worship and the Mohammed Deepak case in Kotdwar.

Pathak questioned whether political opposition has now crossed the line of basic dignity, alleging that Congress leaders are dragging personal families, religious sentiments and sensitive issues into political confrontation.
Reacting to the alleged remarks over the Shraddha ceremony, Pathak said that performing Shraddha for departed parents is a deeply revered Sanatan tradition and should not be turned into a political weapon.
He also invoked the alleged objectionable remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother, asking whether Congress considers personal attacks on families an acceptable form of political discourse.
The BJP spokesperson also trained his guns on Congress over the Mohammed Deepak case in Kotdwar, involving allegations of assault and threats against a trader. Pathak questioned the Congress leadership over its alleged public association with Mohammed Deepak and asked what steps, if any, were taken in support of the alleged victim.
Pathak further referred to the controversial 2017 remarks by Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit concerning former Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, arguing that political parties must exercise restraint when speaking about the armed forces and matters of national security.
The BJP leader maintained that political battles should be fought over governance, policies and public issues—not by targeting families, faith or the dignity of the departed.
Honey Pathak’s message to Congress is clear: political opposition is legitimate, but crossing the line of dignity cannot be justified in the name of politics.
