A total of 102 complaints were registered during the Samadhan Diwas (Public Grievance Redressal Day) held at the Rishiparna Auditorium on the premises of the District Collectorate in Dehradun on Monday.
The public hearing was chaired by Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) K.K. Mishra, who heard the grievances of citizens and directed concerned officials to conduct inquiries and ensure their timely and effective resolution.
Investment Fraud Complaints Involving Lakhs
Among the complaints received were allegations of financial fraud in the name of investment. Rishikesh residents Rekha Chatrath, Neelam Negi and Ritu Garg alleged that they were cheated by Doon Smriddhi Limited and Sarv Microfinance India Association.
According to the complaints, Rekha Chatrath allegedly lost ₹18.95 lakh, Neelam Negi ₹14.75 lakh, and Ritu Garg ₹4.25 lakh in the alleged investment fraud. Taking the matter seriously, the Additional District Magistrate directed the administration to conduct an inquiry.
₹1.75 Lakh Allegedly Taken in Name of Job
Akhilesh Uniyal, a resident of Nathuwala, alleged that he received a job offer letter from India Global Services and was asked to deposit ₹1.75 lakh. However, despite making the payment, he was allegedly not provided the promised job.
Seeking an investigation and legal action against the alleged fake company, Uniyal approached the Samadhan Diwas. The Additional District Magistrate directed the concerned Circle Officer to investigate the matter.
In another complaint, Khem Chand, a resident of Indresh Nagar, alleged that he was cheated of ₹50,000 on the promise of securing a Class IV government job in the state secretariat. The complaint was referred to the Circle Officer, Patel Nagar, for investigation.
Mobile Network and Drinking Water Issues Raised
The Navada Mini Mussoorie Jan Kalyan Samiti raised the issue of poor mobile connectivity in the area and demanded the installation of a mobile tower. The e-District Manager was directed to take necessary action.
Residents of Urteda Basti, under Gram Panchayat Kawakheda in Chakrata development block, complained about a dilapidated drinking water pipeline. The Jal Nigam was directed to take immediate steps to restore the water supply.
Elderly Woman Alleges Harassment by Son and Daughter-in-Law
62-year-old Asha Kanaujia, a resident of Nehru Colony, said she had transferred her property in her son’s name out of maternal affection. She alleged that she was now being harassed by her son and daughter-in-law in her old age.
The Additional District Magistrate directed officials to initiate proceedings under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act and ensure that the elderly woman receives relief at the earliest.
An elderly woman named Jainab, a resident of the MDDDA Colony, sought financial assistance for eye treatment. The concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate was directed to prepare a proposal for financial assistance.
Land Dispute and Encroachment Complaints
Pravesh Upreti, a resident of Saharanpur, alleged that his land had been fraudulently sold to another person and that attempts were being made to dispose of the property illegally. The SDM Vikasnagar was directed to investigate the matter and take necessary action.
Geet Bisht complained of alleged encroachment by a neighbour on her property, locking of a shared staircase, obstruction of access and threats. The SDM was directed to investigate the matter and ensure its resolution.
Similarly, Madhavi Gurung, a resident of Lachhiwala, alleged that her brother-in-law, in collusion with a property dealer, had blocked access to her house. The SDM was directed to investigate and take appropriate action.
Rain Damage Complaints Also Received
Dineshwari Devi, a resident of Navada, reported that the protective wall of her cattle shed was damaged due to heavy rainfall on September 3. She sought financial assistance for its repair. The Chief Veterinary Officer was directed to submit a report along with photographs of the site.
Guddi Devi of Chukkuwala and Kamlesh of Raipur complained that their houses had been damaged due to the rains. The concerned SDMs were directed to inspect the sites and submit inquiry reports.
Officials Told to Ensure Time-Bound Disposal
Additional District Magistrate K.K. Mishra directed officials not to treat the complaints received during Samadhan Diwas as a mere formality. He instructed departments to ensure quality and time-bound disposal of every grievance and to inform complainants about the action taken on their cases.
District-level officials, including District Social Welfare Officer Deepankar Ghildiyal, District Education Officer Prem Lal Bharti, Chief Agriculture Officer Devendra Rana and Municipal Tax Officer Vijay Chauhan, among others, were present during the public hearing.
