Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday inaugurated the newly developed ‘Jal Srishti Park’ at Miyanwala in Dehradun’s Raipur area. The park has been developed by the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) at a cost of approximately ₹8.64 crore under the Chief Minister’s announcement.
The project has given a new lease of life to an existing old pond, combining water conservation with modern recreational and green-space facilities.

The park features a jogging track, yoga deck, children’s park, educational flower garden, landscaped green areas and seating spaces. A specially developed island in the middle of the pond and pedal boating facilities are among the major attractions.
Speaking at the inauguration, CM Dhami said the revival of traditional water sources is not only an environmental initiative but also an effort to protect the region’s heritage and secure natural resources for future generations.
He said development should not be limited to concrete structures, but should focus on improving people’s quality of life while maintaining the city’s natural environment and greenery.
The Chief Minister also highlighted various ongoing development works in the Raipur area, including roads, drinking water supply, healthcare, education, sewerage, parks and flood protection.
He said projects such as the Saung Dam are also important for strengthening Dehradun’s drinking water infrastructure in view of the city’s growing population and increasing water requirements.
CM Dhami appealed to local residents to take collective responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of the park. He said while the government can develop public facilities, their long-term upkeep requires active participation from society.
The inauguration programme was attended by Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, senior officials and a large number of local residents.
The new park is expected to provide residents with a green public space combining environmental conservation, recreation, fitness and natural beauty in the heart of the Raipur area.
