ARUNODAY TIMES : Dehradun, July 27: In a major crackdown under the “Drugs Free Devbhoomi” campaign, the Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF), Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and Selakui Police jointly arrested two alleged drug traffickers and seized 1.521 kilograms of ketamine, valued at approximately ₹1.5 million (₹15 lakh) in the international illicit market.
According to the STF, the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs. The joint team intercepted the accused in the Selakui area and recovered the contraband, which had been concealed inside the storage compartment of a scooter. A Drug Inspector present at the scene confirmed that the seized substance was ketamine.
Key Leads Emerge During Interrogation
During preliminary questioning, the accused reportedly told investigators that they were on their way to deliver the ketamine to an unidentified individual near Berthwal’s mango orchard in Khairi village.
The police are now conducting a detailed investigation to identify the source of the narcotics, trace the supply chain and uncover other individuals linked to the drug trafficking network.
Accused Arrested
- Shubham Kumar, son of Rajesh Kumar, resident of Jamanpur, Selakui, Dehradun.
- Ankit Tiwari, son of Dinesh, originally from Nagla Kallu, Shahabad Dehat, Hardoi (Uttar Pradesh), currently residing in Selakui, Dehradun.
Items Seized
- 1.521 kg of ketamine
- One Jupiter scooter
- Two mobile phones
A case has been registered against the accused at Selakui Police Station under Sections 8/22(C)/29/60 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further legal proceedings are underway.
Public Appeal
The Senior Superintendent of Police, STF, urged the public to stay away from narcotics and not become involved in drug trafficking for financial gain. Citizens have been requested to immediately report any information related to drug trafficking or illegal narcotics activities to the nearest police station or the STF/ANTF Uttarakhand. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
The STF reiterated that its crackdown on drug traffickers and organised narcotics networks will continue under the “Drugs Free Devbhoomi” campaign.
