Dehradun Municipal Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review waste disposal operations and address long-pending issues at the Shishambada Solid Waste Management Plant. Stressing the need for immediate action, he directed the operating agency to ensure the scientific and timely disposal of the accumulated waste.
The Municipal Commissioner said the plant must operate strictly in accordance with prescribed environmental and technical standards, adding that negligence in waste management would not be tolerated. He instructed the concerned firm to resolve all existing issues without delay.
The meeting also discussed the demands previously raised by the Pachhwadun Joint Committee. Taking local residents’ concerns into account, the Commissioner emphasized expediting the ongoing land identification process for the relocation of the Shishambada plant. It was also decided that monthly review meetings would be held to monitor progress on the relocation process.
Mr. Pandey further directed officials to give priority to pending issues related to the local development committee and residents so that their grievances are resolved within a fixed timeline.
The meeting was attended by the Municipal Health Officer, Assistant Municipal Commissioner, members of the Pachhwadun Joint Committee, representatives of the plant management and local residents, including Rajendra Gangari, Amit Agarwal, Arun Kumar, Uma Devi Panwar and Neena Gupta
