The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has stepped up its crackdown on illegal and unauthorized construction in Dehradun, sealing two buildings in separate cases on Monday.
The action was carried out under the direction of MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari and Secretary Mohan Singh Burnia. The authority said its teams are continuously monitoring construction activities across Dehradun and taking action against structures that violate approved plans and development norms.

Building sealed in Majra
The first action was taken at Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg in Majra, where construction of a ground-floor and first-floor building was underway, according to the MDDA.
The authority initiated proceedings under the relevant provisions of the Uttarakhand (U.P.) Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973, as amended in 2009.
The case was registered as Case No. R-0439/S-1/2022 and is recorded in the authority’s records under the name of Anand Basera. Following due procedure, the building was sealed on Monday.
Commercial construction sealed in Bengali Kothi
The second action was taken in Bengali Kothi on Modhrowala Road, where commercial construction was reportedly being carried out by M.S. Rawat.
The MDDA initiated proceedings under the applicable provisions of the urban planning law, registering the matter as Case No. C-03076/S-2/2026. The authority’s enforcement team subsequently reached the site and sealed the construction.
MDDA warns against construction without approval
The development authority has appealed to property owners and builders to ensure that all required permissions and approved building plans are in place before starting construction.
MDDA officials said construction carried out without approval or in violation of sanctioned norms will invite action under applicable rules.
MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said the crackdown on illegal construction and unauthorized plotting would continue. He directed officials to ensure action in identified cases strictly in accordance with the rules.
MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Burnia said enforcement teams are maintaining continuous surveillance over construction activities. He said action is being taken against construction undertaken without approval or in violation of prescribed standards.
According to the authority, the objective is not only enforcement but also to strengthen planned, safe and regulated urban development in Dehradun. Monitoring and action against illegal construction, unauthorized plotting and unapproved commercial activities will continue across the MDDA jurisdiction.
