Dehradun, September 23, 2026: In a major initiative to bring girls who have dropped out of school back into the education system, the Dehradun district administration has facilitated the re-enrolment of 112 dropout girls in schools.
The initiative is being implemented on the directions of District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan, with the district administration and Education Department jointly working to identify girls who have been deprived of education due to family, financial or other circumstances.
So far, 444 dropout girls have been identified across the district. Of these, 112 girls have already been admitted to schools during the first phase, while preparations are underway to enrol 111 more girls in the second phase.
Focus on Reconnecting Every Girl With Education
District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan has directed Education Department officials to ensure that no girl remains deprived of education because of family difficulties, financial constraints or other circumstances.
Officials have been instructed to identify such girls on a priority basis and facilitate their admission to schools according to their age and educational level.
The DM has also emphasised that the exercise should not remain limited to identification. Officials have been directed to assess the individual circumstances of every dropout girl and ensure that the process of re-admission is completed effectively.
Where necessary, officials have also been asked to coordinate with families and encourage them to support their daughters in continuing their education.
Second Phase to Bring 111 More Girls Back to School
The district administration’s initiative aims to reconnect girls whose education was interrupted due to family or social circumstances with the mainstream education system.
The enrolment of 112 girls in the first phase is being viewed as an important step in this direction. Preparations are now underway to bring another 111 dropout girls back to school in the second phase.
The initiative is expected to provide these girls with an opportunity to resume their education and pursue greater opportunities for self-reliance and personal development.
Education for Every Girl Among Administration’s Priorities
The District Magistrate has stated that ensuring that every girl in the district who is eligible for education reaches school is among the administration’s priorities.
The Education Department and other concerned departments have been directed to work in coordination and take effective action to ensure that identified dropout girls are successfully brought back into the education system.
