A grand two-day spiritual and cultural celebration was organised at Rishikul Maidan in Haridwar by the Manav Utthan Sewa Samiti to mark the 75th birth anniversary of Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister, renowned spiritual leader and social worker Satpal Maharaj.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the celebrations on Monday and extended his greetings to Satpal Maharaj. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister described Maharaj as one of the country’s influential leaders and said that his personality was an inspiration for everyone.
CM Dhami Highlights Satpal Maharaj’s Spiritual Contributions
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said Satpal Maharaj was not only a political leader but also a respected Indian spiritual teacher. He stated that Maharaj had received spiritual knowledge from his father, Hans Ji Maharaj, from an early age and had made the propagation of Manav Dharma his life’s mission.
He further said that Satpal Maharaj delivers spiritual discourses in India and abroad, with self-knowledge, human service and respect for all religions forming the core of his message. According to the Chief Minister, these teachings have earned him the devotion of a large number of followers.
Dhami also highlighted Satpal Maharaj’s political journey, noting that he won the Chaubattakhal Assembly seat in 2017 and 2022 on a BJP ticket and subsequently served as a Cabinet Minister in the Uttarakhand government. He said that as PWD and Tourism Minister, Maharaj had consistently focused on the overall development of Uttarakhand.
Governor Gurmeet Singh Praises His Contribution
Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) also attended the event and extended birthday greetings to Satpal Maharaj.
In his address, the Governor described Maharaj’s personality as inspiring and said that he had been spreading the message of Manav Dharma, harmony and self-knowledge in India and abroad through the Manav Utthan Sewa Samiti.
He also acknowledged Maharaj’s contribution as a public representative and administrator to the development of Uttarakhand. The Governor said that efforts were being made under his leadership to improve the management of the Char Dham Yatra, expand tourism infrastructure and preserve the cultural heritage of Devbhoomi.
He added that Satpal Maharaj had worked to connect development with spirituality.
Satpal Maharaj Emphasises the Importance of Satsang
Addressing the gathering at Rishikul Maidan, Satpal Maharaj urged people to make the most of satsang and spiritual teachings. He said that the opportunity to meet and listen to great spiritual personalities was considered a matter of good fortune.
He stated that people should follow the teachings of saints and spiritual leaders, particularly during challenging times. Maharaj also emphasised the importance of maintaining positive thoughts, saying that destructive thinking could lead an individual towards decline.
He encouraged people to remember the name of the Supreme Being while performing their daily duties, adding that spiritual remembrance could help make human life meaningful and guide people towards the path of liberation

Mata Amrita Recalls Maharaj’s Life Struggles
Former Cabinet Minister Mata Amrita, in her address, referred to the theatrical presentation based on Satpal Maharaj’s life that was staged on the first day of the celebrations.
She said the presentation helped the audience understand the struggles Maharaj had faced and his efforts towards human welfare. Mata Amrita stated that Satpal Maharaj’s life was filled with challenges and urged people to draw inspiration from his journey and follow his guidance.
Birthday Rituals Held in the Presence of Devotees
A special worship ceremony was also organised as part of the birth anniversary celebrations. Following the rituals, Mata Amrita, Shraddheya, Aradhya, Suyash, Mohina, several saints and spiritual leaders, along with a large number of devotees, remained present at the venue.

Satpal Maharaj Places Development Proposals Before CM
During the programme, Chaubattakhal MLA and Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj also placed several development-related requests before Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
He sought support for the on-site development of various temples and schools located in his Assembly constituency. He also requested the creation of posts for Physics and Mathematics at the undergraduate level in the Science stream at Government Degree College, Bedewal.
