Dehradun: ARUNODAY TIMES , Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami celebrated his birthday on Wednesday by visiting the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) in Dehradun and spending time with children with visual disabilities.
The Chief Minister cut a cake with the children and interacted with them in a warm and informal manner. He spoke to the children, encouraged them and spent considerable time with them. The children appeared delighted to have the Chief Minister among them, creating a cheerful atmosphere at the institute.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Dhami said that ensuring equal opportunities, dignity and a supportive environment for every individual is a collective responsibility of society. He said the affection and happiness reflected on the children’s faces made the occasion especially meaningful for him.
‘Every Morning Brings a New Beginning’
Explaining his decision to spend his birthday with children, Dhami said that every morning, when a person wakes up, it can be seen as a new birth because they enter a new day with fresh possibilities. He said that on his birthday, he makes an effort to spend some time among children and interact with them.
The Chief Minister said that children with disabilities need more than sympathy. “These children do not need only our sympathy; along with sympathy, it is important to empower them,” he said.
Dhami said children with disabilities who are participating in different fields are demonstrating their abilities through their performances. He stressed the need to provide them with opportunities and support so that they can realise their potential.
Focus on Empowering Children with Disabilities
The Chief Minister said several initiatives have been undertaken for the empowerment of children with disabilities and referred to the efforts and schemes associated with the institute. He said efforts are being made to equip children with disabilities with the necessary support and opportunities to become self-reliant.
Dhami said every child has talent and potential and that the focus should be on creating an environment where they can move forward with confidence. He encouraged the children to pursue their goals with determination, self-confidence and continuous effort.
The Chief Minister also said that the youth of Uttarakhand are observing the day as Yuva Sankalp Diwas, adding that the occasion should inspire young people to move forward with determination and a sense of responsibility.
CM Dhami wished the children a bright future and said their smiles and affection were the most special and memorable gift he could receive on his birthday.
