The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has intensified its campaign against illegal plotting and unauthorized construction activities across its jurisdiction. Acting on the directions of Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, enforcement teams are conducting strict inspections and taking action against violators to ensure planned urban development.
In the latest action, MDDA carried out a demolition drive in the Retiwala area of Vikasnagar Tehsil, where an illegal colony was allegedly being developed on nearly 10 bighas of land near Atulyam Resort. According to officials, Abhinav Bansal and others were undertaking unauthorized plotting and had constructed a CC road without obtaining the required approvals and sanctioned layout plans.
MDDA had earlier issued a show-cause notice and directed the parties concerned to immediately halt all unauthorized activities. Despite these warnings, efforts to continue the illegal development reportedly persisted.
Officials stated that the same illegal plotting had already been demolished on May 20, 2026. However, after fresh complaints and inspection reports revealed renewed construction activity, MDDA teams returned to the site and demolished the unauthorized CC road and related structures using JCB machines.
Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari reiterated that illegal construction and plotting would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He emphasized that ensuring planned and lawful development remains the authority’s top priority and warned that strict legal action would be taken against violators.
MDDA Secretary Mohan Singh Barniya said the anti-encroachment and anti-illegal construction campaign would continue across all sectors. He also urged citizens to verify the legal status of land and properties before making investments and to promptly report any unauthorized construction activities to the authority.
MDDA has appealed to the public to exercise caution while purchasing plots, warning that investments in illegal colonies could result in significant financial losses.
