DM Savin Bansal’s Initiative Brings Relief to Divyangjans, DDRC Emerges as a Major Support Center
Dehradun: Arunoday Times
Under the guidance of the Chief Minister and the initiative of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, the District Disability Rehabilitation Center (DDRC) in Dehradun has emerged as a major support system for divyangjans. Operating from Gandhi Shatabdi District Hospital, the center is helping specially-abled citizens access disability certificates, UDID cards, and various government welfare schemes with ease.

Every Wednesday, disability certificates are being issued at Gandhi Shatabdi Hospital through the Health Department, providing significant convenience to beneficiaries. In addition, divyangjans can also get information regarding services and schemes through the DDRC helpline number 8791009301 from their homes.

Since its launch in September 2025, the DDRC has facilitated the issuance of more than 600 UDID (Unique Disability ID) cards. Alongside this, 600 new disability certificates have been issued and 250 certificates have been renewed. According to the Health Department, a total of 30,739 disability certificates have been issued in Dehradun district since 2009.
District Social Welfare Officer Deepankar Ghildiyal stated that, under the directions of the District Magistrate, special arrangements were made for the operation of DDRC at Gandhi Shatabdi Hospital so that multiple services could be provided to divyangjans under one roof.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Sharma informed that disability board services are being regularly provided every Wednesday at Gandhi Shatabdi Hospital and every Tuesday at SDH Vikasnagar for issuance and renewal of disability certificates.
The center is also offering free speech therapy, physiotherapy, and learning therapy for specially-abled children. These services are helping improve the physical, mental, and educational development of children.
Beneficiary Manoj Bahuguna shared that obtaining a UDID card earlier involved several difficulties, but the process has now become smooth and accessible through the DDRC center. He expressed gratitude to the district administration and the state government forthe initiative.
