Zero Tolerance Policy Bites: Garhwal Commissioner Cracks Down on Land Fraud
In a strong push against land-related fraud, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey chaired a high-level meeting of the Land Fraud Coordination Committee at the camp office in Survey Chowk on Saturday. The review reflects the state government’s zero tolerance” policy towards land scams, with strict directions for swift and decisive action.

125 Cases Reviewed, 45 Resolved, FIRs Ordered in 24 Cases
During the meeting, a total of **125 cases** were taken up, including **20 pending** and **105 new complaints**. Out of these, **45 cases were resolved**, while **24 serious cases** have been identified for immediate registration of FIRs.
Among the newly reported cases, Dehradun district accounted for the highest number (74) followed by ,Haridwar (15), Pauri (13), Tehri (2), and Chamoli (1)

Major Irregularities Unearthed
Investigations revealed shocking instances of fraud, including:
Sale of non-existent land
Manipulation of *khasra* numbers to misrepresent property
* Selling 2 bigha land as 4 bigha
* Illegal encroachments through fencing and land grabbing
Several complaints involve individuals accused of illegal possession and tampering with land records.
Strict Action Ordered
The Commissioner directed police authorities to initiate **immediate FIRs** in all serious cases and ensure strict legal action. He emphasized that **no land fraud case should be tolerated under any circumstances**.
*15-Day Deadline for Pending Cases
Expressing concern over delays in large land-related cases, the Commissioner instructed officials to ensure **tangible progress within 15 days**. Joint inspections in pending matters must be completed within a week, with reports submitted promptly.

* Ensure **swift disposal** of all land fraud cases
* Take **immediate action** in cases of illegal construction
* Inform complainants if cases are not related to land fraud
* Avoid unnecessary delays; do not keep cases pending
* Resolve disputes at an early stage to prevent complications
Regular Monitoring Mechanism
The Commissioner reiterated that such review meetings are being held **every 15 days** to closely monitor progress and enforce accountability.
