A blood donation camp was organized on the occasion of the birthday of Suryakant Dhasmana, senior vice president of the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee and AICC member. The camp was jointly organized by the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Labour Cell and Devbhoomi Human Resource Development Trust, in association with Mahant Indiresh Hospital, at Royal Palace in Indiranagar, Vasant Vihar, Dehradun.
A total of 120 units of blood were donated during the camp, with a large number of youths, Congress workers and social activists participating enthusiastically.
The camp was inaugurated by Dehradun District Panchayat Chairperson Sukhwinder Kaur, who cut the ribbon to formally begin the programme. Speaking on the occasion, she said that organizing a blood donation camp on Dhasmana’s birthday was a fitting tribute to his personality and his long public life.
She said that Dhasmana’s political journey has been associated with service, struggle and public welfare, and described his social and political life as a source of inspiration for others.
Expressing his gratitude to everyone who came to wish him on his birthday and participated in the blood donation drive, Suryakant Dhasmana said that he had learned from his political mentor, the late Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, that the foremost duty of politics is public service.
Dhasmana said that he has continued to work for society without being concerned about victory or defeat, and by remaining committed to principles and serving people without discrimination based on religion, caste or language.
He said, “On my birthday, I once again pledge that as long as I have life and strength, my commitment to public service will continue.”
Dehradun Metropolitan Congress President Dr. Jaswinder Singh Gogi described Dhasmana as a dynamic leader, a scholar, and a visionary with clarity of thought.
Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Chief Spokesperson Garima Mehra Dhasouni said that she had learned a great deal from Dhasmana and described him as a mentor who has always supported and guided his colleagues.
Several prominent personalities were present at the programme, including former Bar Council president Razia Beg, Bar Council member Sangram Singh Pundir, Pradesh Congress spokesperson Abhinav Thapar, senior social worker Subhash Sharma, former Press Club president Brahmadutt Sharma, former vice president Girdhar Sharma, Doiwala Gurdwara Management Committee president Sardar Gurdeep Singh, Sardar Inderjit Singh, Advocate Alok Gildiyal, Sonu Qazi, Sumit Khanna, Jitendra Taneja, councillor Sangeeta Gupta, former councillors Rajesh Pundir and Lalit Bhadri, State Agitators’ Forum leader Vipul Nautiyal, Ashok Chandan, Anand Singh Pundir, Altaf Ahmed, Shubham Saini, R.K. Thapliyal and Anita Das, among others.
The programme was conducted by Dinesh Kaushal, president of the Pradesh Congress Committee Labour Cell.
