The Uttarakhand Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, met on Friday, September 11, and approved 10 key proposals concerning healthcare, sports, energy, legal services and administrative matters.
In a major relief for medical interns, the Cabinet approved an increase in the monthly stipend for MBBS interns from ₹17,000 to ₹25,000. MBBS and PG interns had been protesting for several days demanding a hike in their stipend.

The Cabinet also approved a significant decision for sportspersons. Under Uttarakhand Sports Policy 2021, 283 posts across various departments have been reserved for sportspersons. These include the Sports, Youth Welfare, Home, Transport, Education and Forest departments.
In addition, 33 posts of Assistant Teacher (Physical Education) under the Secondary Education Department have been reserved for medal-winning sportspersons.
The Cabinet also approved the revision of fee rates for government advocates, paving the way for an increase in remuneration for advocates appearing before the Supreme Court, High Court and subordinate courts.
The annual reports of the Energy and Alternative Energy Department and the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission have also been approved for placement before the State Legislative Assembly.
Among other decisions, the Cabinet approved the inclusion of one post of Additional Director General of Prisons in the cadre structure under the Prison Department’s service rules.
The government also approved amendments to the service rules of the Food and Legal Metrology Department.
The Cabinet further approved the proposal to allot 972 square yards of land at a GMVN parking site to Garhwal Sabha. Additionally, 15 acres of land near the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESI) Directorate premises in Haridwar has been approved for the ESI hospital.
