A month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ will be organised across the district from September 15 to October 18, with a focus on cleanliness, healthcare, environmental protection, innovation and greater public participation.
The campaign aims to connect citizens with government schemes and development initiatives while encouraging their active participation in activities related to public service, cleanliness, health, environment and nation-building.
A meeting chaired by Dehradun District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan was held at the Collectorate on Tuesday to finalise the campaign’s roadmap. The DM directed line departments to ensure timely preparations, coordination and wide publicity for the programmes.
Six themes to drive the campaign
The campaign will feature programmes under themes such as ‘India 2047’, ‘Seva Aur Sapna’, ‘Namo 25 Gatha’, ‘Aangan Ka Utsav’, ‘25 Saal-25 Kahaniyan’ and ‘Jan Kalyan Samvad’.
Educational institutions will organise essay and painting competitions on the theme of ‘Viksit Bharat’, while multilingual plays highlighting inspiring stories will be staged under the ‘Namo 25 Gatha’ initiative.
Special cleanliness drives across public institutions
During the first phase, intensive cleanliness drives will be conducted at government offices, schools, colleges, hospitals, urban local bodies, religious places and gram panchayats.
The campaign will also promote environmental conservation and facilitate distribution of books highlighting the life and contributions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Hackathons and innovation challenges for youth
To encourage young people to engage with technology and innovation, the district administration will organise hackathons, innovation challenges and short-film competitions.
The Sports and Youth Welfare Department will also organise a grand relay marathon on October 7, observed as ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra Day’, with an emphasis on maximum public participation.
Uttarakhand’s development journey to be showcased
The ‘Rangoli Rashtra’ programme on September 17 will showcase India and Uttarakhand’s cultural and development journey through large-scale rangolis.
From October 7 to 17, the ‘25 Pillars of Progress’ programme will use projection mapping, light shows and cultural performances to showcase major development projects, including the Kedarnath-Badrinath reconstruction works, Mansakhand Temple Mala Mission, Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway project, Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, Lakshwar Dam and Jamrani Dam.
‘Project 25-25-25’ to promote daily public participation
Under ‘Project 25-25-25’, citizens will be encouraged to dedicate at least 25 minutes every day to the nation, participating in activities such as cleanliness drives, tree plantation and digital literacy initiatives.
Multipurpose and medical camps will also be organised, including distribution of artificial limbs to persons with disabilities, blood donation camps and fruit distribution among patients at hospitals.
Gandhi Jayanti to focus on Swadeshi and ‘Vocal for Local’
On October 2, marking the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, citizens will be administered a pledge to adopt Swadeshi products and khadi.
Schools will conduct ‘Fit India’ activities, while a wide-ranging awareness campaign will promote the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative.
The District Magistrate directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination and ensure timely implementation of the activities so that the campaign develops into a broad-based public movement.
