Raksha Bandhan was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Barkot under the leadership of BJP Uttarakhand State Media In-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan. Hundreds of women from the Yamunotri Assembly constituency, including the Ganga and Yamuna valleys and remote areas, attended the event and tied rakhis on Chauhan’s wrist.

The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp. Local women’s music groups and folk artists presented bhajans, devotional songs and cultural performances, adding colour to the celebrations.
Renowned folk singer Meena Rana also performed during the event. Her performance received an enthusiastic response, with women and men joining in the celebrations and dancing to the traditional music.
The large participation of women remained the highlight of the event. Hundreds of women from different parts of the Ganga-Yamuna valley came together, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and festivity.
Speaking on the occasion, Manveer Singh Chauhan thanked all the women for their affection and blessings. He said that the love and affection of sisters represent the richness of Hindu culture and Sanatan traditions. He emphasized the importance of preserving the sacred bond between brothers and sisters.
Chauhan further said that with the blessings and support of the people, every possible effort would be made in the future for the development of basic and essential infrastructure in the Yamunotri Assembly constituency.
He described the gathering of sisters on Raksha Bandhan as a symbol of Sanatan traditions, social harmony and brotherhood, adding that such events strengthen mutual love, harmony and unity in society.
Former Municipal Chairperson Atol Rawat, Anupama Rawat, BJP District General Secretary Parshuram Jugadi, Mandal President Amit Rawat, Shailendra Kohli, Harimohan Chand, Tarveen Singh Rana, BJP workers, local residents and a large number of women were present at the event. The programme was conducted by Tarveen Singh Rana.
