Dehradun, August 2: The newly elected office-bearers and members of the State Union of Working Journalists (SUWJ), Dehradun District Unit, took the oath of office at a swearing-in ceremony held on Sunday, pledging to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and integrity.
The event was held at Narayan Muni Bhawan on Rajpur Road and was presided over by senior journalist Santosh Anand. District President Surya Prakash welcomed the guests and members attending the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Sunil Agrawal highlighted the vital role of journalism in shaping society, stating that a journalist’s pen continues to be a symbol of credibility and public trust.
Special Guest Sanjay Ji, Senior State Pracharak, said journalism should serve the interests of the nation and society rather than personal interests. He stressed the importance of preserving the core values and objectives of responsible journalism.
SUWJ State President Shankar Dutt Sharma congratulated the newly appointed office-bearers and urged them to strengthen the organisation by prioritising issues of public interest and social concern, thereby upholding the dignity and credibility of the profession.
Several other speakers, including Laxman Singh Negi, member of the State Journalists Protection Committee, Somdatt Sharma, State President of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, along with Satendra Chauhan and Kuldeep Singh, also addressed the gathering and extended their best wishes to the newly formed district unit.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by SUWJ State Coordinator Narayan Bhatt, District General Secretary Pankaj Bhargava, and Chetan Singh Khadka. During the event, invited guests, senior journalists, and newly elected office-bearers were honoured with mementoes in recognition of their contributions.
The programme, conducted by Pawan Rawat, was attended by Shiv Prasad Sati, Pitambar Kumar, Satish Pundir, Umashankar Kukreti, Neeta Sharma, Laxmi Bahuguna, Manu Sabbarwal, Sanjay Sumitabh, Kapil Garg, Chiranjeev Sehgal, Aditya Malik, Laxmi Bisht, Satyendra Kumar Chauhan, Indra Kumar Arora, Nidhi Arora, Krishna Kumar Semwal, Vinod Rawat, Chandrakala Kala, along with several journalists and distinguished guests.
