Administration on High Alert Over Dengue, DM Holds Emergency Review Meeting
Hospitals Asked to Stay Fully Prepared; Strict Action Against Waterlogging and Mosquito Breeding
Dehradun With the rising threat of dengue and other water-borne diseases, the district administration has intensified preparedness measures across the city. District Magistrate Savin Bansal chaired a high-level review meeting at Rishiparna Auditorium and directed all concerned departments to work in complete coordination to prevent any possible outbreak.

The DM instructed the Health Department to ensure full preparedness in all government and private hospitals, including availability of rapid dengue test kits, ELISA testing facilities, medicines, blood banks, beds, doctors, and medical staff. He emphasized that no shortage of testing kits should occur and assured that additional funds would be provided if required.
The administration has also ordered all hospitals to keep their medical equipment operational and maintain fixed testing rates for dengue diagnostics. A 24×7 control room will remain active to ensure immediate response in case of any reported dengue case.
## ASHA Workers to Get Additional Incentives
The DM directed officials to prepare ward-wise micro plans in Dehradun and Rishikesh, with ASHA workers conducting door-to-door surveys and Rapid Response Teams remaining on standby. Monitoring of dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and other water-borne diseases will be carried out continuously.
To boost field-level work, ASHA workers will receive additional incentives this year. Along with ₹1,000 from NHM and ₹1,500 from the Municipal Corporation, the district administration will provide an extra ₹1,500 incentive.
## Fogging, Larvicide Spraying and Drain Cleaning Intensified
The Municipal Corporation and local bodies have been directed to immediately clean all major and minor drains, including the Rispana and Bindal river stretches. Special focus will be placed on dengue hotspot areas, where volunteers and rapid response teams will be deployed.
The DM also ordered regular fogging operations and chemical spraying through larvicide tankers in every ward to destroy mosquito larvae. Dedicated larvicide tankers will be assigned ward-wise, and a detailed action plan will be prepared for sanitation and anti-dengue operations.
## Heavy Penalty for Waterlogging
The administration has adopted a strict approach toward commercial establishments, campuses, and public places where waterlogging or mosquito breeding is found. Officials have been instructed to impose heavy fines on violators if dengue larvae, stagnant water, or unhygienic conditions are detected.
## Schools Asked to Issue Advisory
The DM directed schools to launch awareness campaigns regarding dengue prevention and advised institutions to make full-sleeve uniforms mandatory for students as a precautionary measure against mosquito bites.
## Sensitive Areas Identified
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma informed the meeting that Banjarawala, Maharana Pratap Sports College area, Clement Town, Rajasthani Basti, and Kargi have been identified as sensitive mosquito breeding zones.
According to official data, Dehradun reported 1,201 dengue cases and 13 deaths in 2023. The number dropped to 37 cases in 2024, while 785 cases were reported in 2025 with no fatalities. So far in 2026, five dengue cases have been reported, including three linked to patients from outside the state.
Senior officials from the Health Department, Municipal Corporation, Education Department, and other concerned agencies were present during the meeting.
