Free meals for pilgrims, medical teams on standby, ₹50 lakh approved for sanitation; DM Savin Bansal reviews preparations

Preparations for the Char Dham Yatra 2026, set to commence on April 19 on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, are in full swing across Uttarakhand. The district administration has intensified arrangements to ensure a smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage experience.
District Magistrate Savin Bansal conducted a comprehensive review meeting at the Rishikesh Transit Camp and inspected on-ground facilities, issuing key directives to concerned departments.

🟢 30 Registration Counters & Mobile Teams Deployed…
To streamline the registration process:
- 24 counters have been set up at Rishikesh Transit Camp
- 6 additional counters at ISBT
- 30 mobile teams deployed (25 during the day, 5 at night)
These mobile teams will facilitate on-the-spot registration for pilgrims staying in hotels, dharamshalas, and ashrams.

🟢 Accommodation for 7,100 Pilgrims…
Authorities have identified 7,100 beds across dharamshalas, ashrams, and lodges.
Instructions have been given to install large display screens at the transit camp to provide real-time information about accommodation availability and contact details.
🟢 24×7 Integrated Control Room..
A fully functional Integrated Control Room will operate round the clock at the transit camp, with personnel from all departments deployed.
Separate control rooms will also be maintained by:
- Police Department
- Health Department
Additionally, a dedicated Pilgrim Assistance Center will be set up.
🟢 Free Food & Refreshments for Pilgrims…
The administration has directed that free tea, snacks, and meals be provided to pilgrims at the transit camp.
Support from self-help groups and voluntary organizations will also be utilized.
🟢 24×7 Medical Services…
To ensure healthcare readiness:
- 6 medical teams deployed
- 3 in Rishikesh
- 3 in Herbertpur
- Round-the-clock medical services will be available for pilgrims.
🟢 Essential Facilities Along the Route…
Authorities have been instructed to ensure:
- Adequate drinking water supply
- Mobile toilets
- Temporary shelters and tents at all key halt points and barriers
🟢 Action Against Delays in Infrastructure Work..
The permission granted to the Uttarakhand Peyjal Nigam for pipeline work has been cancelled due to delays.
The DM has directed:
- Immediate restoration of dug-up roads before April 19
- PWD, NH, and NHAI to fix identified black spots on priority
🟢 ₹50 Lakh Approved for Sanitation..
To strengthen sanitation Arrangement:
- ₹50 lakh approved for Municipal Corporation Rishikesh
- Instructions issued for intensified cleaning and fogging operations
- Defaulting sanitation agency to be blacklisted for non-payment of workers
🟢 Administration fully alert..
Senior officials including SSP Pramendra Dobhal and other departmental heads were present during the review. The administration has assured that all necessary steps are being taken to make the Char Dham Yatra 2026 safe, organized, and pilgrim-friendly.
With robust infrastructure, enhanced medical readiness, and digital support systems, the Uttarakhand administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a seamless and safe pilgrimage for thousands of devotees undertaking the sacred Char Dham Yatra this year.
