Dehradun, Arunoday Times
The district administration in Dehradun has taken a strict stance regarding underground power projects. District Magistrate Savin Bansal has clearly directed that all pending works must be completed first, and only then will new projects be approved.

In a meeting of the District-Level Project Coordination Committee chaired by the DM, a total of 13 proposals from PITCUL and UPCL were reviewed. The DM emphasized that all works must be completed within the Determined standards and timelines.
Officials were instructed to prioritize ongoing road works and complete them swiftly by deploying additional resources and working in double shifts. The DM also directed that roads where work has been completed must be re-blacktopped after third-party inspection and joint verification.
Several projects under different UPCL lots are currently in progress, while some new proposals have been given conditional approval. However, certain PITCUL proposals could not be considered due to the absence of technical reports.
The DM issued a strict warning that roads must be restored immediately after excavation. Any excess road cutting, incomplete work, or negligence in safety standards will invite strict action.
Barricading and proper signage at excavation sites have been made mandatory. It has also been directed that any digging carried out at night must be filled by the next morning to avoid inconvenience to the public.
The District Magistrate made it clear that any delay or mismanagement causing inconvenience to the public will lead to legal action against the concerned departments.
Overall, the administration in Dehradun is now focusing not only on development works but also on ensuring safety and quality.
